News from the South Malling Garden

November and December were very busy months outside at South Malling.   The children who brought in  bulbs  planted  then in the raised beds and in some pots to add some colour and  cheer us all up  next spring.

A team of dedicated and enthusiastic children  swept  and collected leaves every  lunchtime.   They worked together really well as a team and made a huge difference to the garden area.

The pond area was made ready for the winter, 3 new beds were constructed and the entire garden was given a thorough tidy up with the help our amazing  parent volunteers, Catherine, Jenny,  Karen & Nev.

Along side Mrs Swan and Mrs Hunt  they turned up three Saturday mornings in a row ,two of which were very wet indeed!  Without their help it simply would not have been managalble –THANK YOU !

Mrs Swan will be planting garlic before Christmas and continuing small garden groups at lunchtimes in term 3.  We also  hope to organise another few Saturday working sessions  early  in term 4 to get the garden ready for gardening club.   If you are interested in helping next year  please let Mrs Hunt know.
