District Sports Success

6th July 2015

Friday, July 3rd, saw the primary schools of Lewes and the surrounding area come together at the athletics track for the annual District Sports competition. The weather was blisteringly hot, and the atmosphere was fantastic. South Malling took 40 children from years 3-6 to represent us and they gave each other great support and were wonderful ambassadors for the school.

In challenging conditions, the children brought home a decent haul of medals, including five gold, four silvers and five bronze medals. There were some wonderful individual performances in both track and field, not least from the 800m runners who braved the sweltering heat, but the highlight was the exploits of the relay teams who put together some powerful sprinting with well-executed, slick changeovers. All of the relay squads were competitive, but a special well done goes to the Y3 and Y4 boys who picked up silver and bronze respectively.

Finally, many thanks to those adults who supported us on the day; particularly those who gave up their time to walk with us and those who generously lent us their gazebos.
